Assistant Production Manager
Description:
This position has primary responsibility for working with the Senior Production Manager regarding production operations, integration of new product development, and setting high standards for productivity improvements. The Assistant Production Manager will provide leadership to an operations team of Team Leads and production team members to deliver world class business results in the areas of safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Review and recommend a plan of production activities to accomplish the corporate objectives
- Help to create the development of specific short- and long-range plans and goals
- Review and recommend methods of improvement in current production practices to promote efficiency and lower costs
- Develop the management abilities through mentoring and coaching of the Team Leads
- Continually develop team members, through training, coaching, and mentoring to meet the future needs of the business
- Coordinate the activities of the production group to best utilize personnel through job sharing, cross training, and work schedules
- Work collaboratively with purchasing team and other production departments to reach business goals and KPI’s
- Direct the production of component parts and products efficiently within established specifications for quality and volume with an emphasis on employee safety
- Provide guidance in the resolution of employee conflicts and recommend corrective action when necessary
- Review and recommend changes to master production schedule to best enhance productivity
- Coordinate studies and projects for improvements in processes and equipment repair to streamline production output
- Maintain compliance with government regulations, company policy, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
