Remembering Bill Huntley - T-H Marine Founder, VP of Product Development, and Chairman Emeritus

Bill Huntley was one of the owners and founders of T-H Marine and he amassed an impressive 60 years of experience in manufacturing in the marine and sporting goods industry. In recognition of his leadership, industry involvement, and love of the outdoors, Bill was inducted into the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame in 2013.

Well into his 80s, he remained active in the boating business he loved and continued to fish almost weekly. He particularly loved to focus on the company's development of new product ideas to bring to market and holds multiple patents for innovations he has invented for boats since the 1970's.

His love for fishing and boating began in early childhood fishing the streams and lakes of southern Tennessee and northern Alabama with his father. BASSMASTER magazine has touted him as one of the top three anglers in the world for smallmouth bass.

In the early 60's he started a lure manufacturing business named Bumble Bee Baits that made tremendous innovation in and sold the leading spinner baits through the 70's and early 80's. In 1975, he founded T-H Marine with some friends, with the only product they had at the time, a power trim switch control handle, or "trim handle". The T-H Marine name came from that first "T"rim "H"andle product.

Other early innovations Bill brought to recreational boats were the Hot Foot in 1977 (the first commercially available boat foot throttle), the first foot operated trolling motor switch, the Hi-Jacker jack plate (one of the first commercially available outboard jack plates), and several breakthrough products for live well aeration and plumbing. He was truly one of the major contributors to development of the modern bass boat.

Before she passed in 2020, Bill was happily married to his wife Pat for over 55 years. Together they had two children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His main hobby was, of course, fishing!

Bill is missed by several generations of T-H Marine team members and friends in the industry, but he will live on in our memories with him.
