CMC Static Jack Plates - 2 1/2"

The 2-1/2 INCH Static Setback Plate has 1 1/2" of height adjustment at the transom. It can be used as a stand-alone 2 1/2" setback plate or used in conjunction with another manual or CMC Power Lift jack plate to give an additional 2 1/2" of setback. Constructed of Extruded 6061-T6 Aluminum alloy. (#65213)

static jack plate

i recieved my jack plate and installed it---the problem is i was already at the highest mounting hole on my outboard. i mounted the jackplate at the highest mounting hole and bottom line is i gained almost no additional height on my motor. i was very concerned because the bolts were so close i could not double nut them---that should have told me something--------so----im contemplated drilling additional hole where the plate meets the transom at the desired lower level to give me the 2 inches of lift i was going for---i should have done some layout lines before mounting-----does anyone see any problems with the drilling of additional holes??
